Akvaplan-niva contributes to international research in aquaculture, marine biodiversity and ecology, environmental pollution, plastics and micorplastics, climate and ocean dynamics, and several other topics (see our publications)
We conduct basic and applied research on freshwater and marine systems.
Our main research topics include Arctic climate and environment, transport and uptake of pollutants/contaminants, effects of human activities on aquatic habitats and ecosystems, and development of concepts for new aquaculture species.
Through our research projects we also develop new methods for mapping and monitoring the environment, including new tools for evaluating environmental risk.
