We are pleased to announce that the project CliN-BluFeed, led by Akvaplan-niva, has been endorsed as a Decade Project by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) Executive Secretary as part of the UN Ocean Decade for Ocean Science. The endorsement comes after a thorough review process.
This endorsement is a recognition that our project will play a central role in supporting the Ocean Decade mission to catalyse transformative ocean science solutions for sustainable development, connecting people and the ocean, in order to achieve the Ocean Decade vision of ‘the science we need for the ocean we want’.
The full title of the CliN-BluFeed project is "A low-CO₂ smart autonomous multiplatform system to monitor and forecast Calanus finmarchicus stock - a new sustainable climate-neutral blue fish feed"
The primary project objective is to develop methodologies that advance the Norwegian Sea Calanus fishery as a sustainable climate-neutral blue resource for the aquaculture industry by harnessing the potential of cutting-edge, low-carbon-emission autonomous marine monitoring technologies coupled with remote sensing, artificial intelligence (AI), simulation modelling, and experimental investigations.
The project is led by Lionel Camus R&D manager for digital solutions at Akvaplan-niva & Pierre Priou, Scientist at Akvaplan-niva, expert in active acoustic.
Project partners are CSCS, AIR Centre - Atlantic International Research Centre, IOPAN, Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI). The project is financed by Horizon Europe, Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP)
