New model on environmental risk from oil spill

At the Society of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology (SETAC) annual meeting in Brussels on May 10th and at the International Oil Spill Conference in Long Beach, California (15-18th May), Cathrine Stephansen from Akvaplan-niva presented the ERA Acute project through a poster and spotlight presentation. ERA Acute is a model that assesses the impacts and risk to the environment from oil spills to sea. The model has been developed by experts in the field from Acona, DNV GL, SINTEF and Akvaplan-niva, with strong involvement from the industry partners, The project is financed by the Research Council of Norway as well as industry partners Statoil, Total and the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association.

Also present at the SETAC conference was Adriana Sardi from Akvaplan-niva, presenting the results from her PhD titled ‘Biomonitoring and risk assessment tools to manage the impact of diesel oil in tropical coastal habitats’.
