Our aquaculture researchers conduct both basic and contract-based research on relevant topics regarding the biology of farmed fish. The research focuses on new aquaculture concepts and technologies (e.g., post-smolt in RAS), the impact of production regimes on performance and welfare, and the development of new aquaculture species. In recent years, we have built extensive expertise in lumpfish farming and have carried out numerous projects covering all life stages: broodstock management, genetics and breeding, early development, transport, use in sea cages, environmental preferences, behaviour, stress, recapture, euthanasia, and reuse.
